Life Link III began in 1974, under the name of Bio Medical Research Associates (BMRA), as a pioneer in the industry by providing intra-aortic balloon pump support, Swan-Ganz and other hemodynamic monitoring services to hospitals.

The original three Consortium members included Abbott Northwestern Hospital, St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center and the University of Minnesota. Today, nine healthcare organizations comprise the Life Link III Consortium, which guides the company’s clinical and business practices.
